Aphex

Photography series / photo book

Aphex was born into this world blissfully ignorant of chaos and evil. She grew up with plants towering over her. her nest kept her safe. the sun kissed her. her tribe raised her, and the breeze soothed her. Aphex was curious and dripped with nature. She was intimate and in touch with her land. She learned survival and adaptation. With time she realized there were forces beyond her control, that there was a taxonomical aspect to her world. On one gloomy night, these unknown giants started to approach her land. Their feet were larger than her nest. She didn’t realize they had malicious intentions. Aphex had past experiences with these creatures, but she learned to avoid them and fly away. Her tribe warned her that they were dangerous. She had no time to realize that everything she’s ever known was about to vanish. She witnessed these creatures destroy her land, her friends, and her family. She had to escape. Her instinct was to fly, and so she did. After years of searching, she finally found her way home. But she couldn’t seem to recognize it. She soon realized that she was there all along. It was taken over, dominated, colonized and urbanized. Nothing familiar was around her anymore, just the remnants and ruins of her past. She had nowhere to go.

Before Aphex knew it, she was gone.
